Therapy is a proven, scientific process that helps people create positive changes in how they feel, think, and act. It uses research from behavioral science to help you work through difficult emotions and learn healthier ways to handle stress. The main goal is not just to fix problems, but to help you build a strong foundation for long-term mental health and daily well-being.

Positive and Lifespan Psychology: Older mental health models usually focused on what was wrong with a person. Positive psychology flips that focus to look at your natural strengths and what makes you thrive. We combine this with lifespan psychology, which is the study of how people grow and change at every stage of life. Together, these sciences show that growth never stops. Instead of just reacting to problems, we use your unique strengths to help you successfully handle the new challenges that come with entering different phases of life.

We provide personalized care that respects how your individual brain works and fits your current stage of life. We can meet online, in your home, or out in the community. In our one-on-one sessions, building a strong and trusting working relationship is the top priority. Together, we will set clear goals and practice real skills, like organizing your schedule and managing your emotions. Every step of the plan is built to fit smoothly into your actual daily routine.

Working through this process gives you practical, science-backed tools to manage stress and improve your relationships. By looking at your challenges as a normal part of human development and actively using your existing strengths, you will learn how to adapt to changes and control your emotions more easily. The result is better connections with others, a higher level of resilience, and a clear path to reaching your personal goals.

Different types of therapy take different amounts of time. Research from the American Psychological Association shows that about half of patients see major improvements after 15 to 20 sessions. Short and focused treatments often take between 12 and 20 sessions. However, therapy is not just for treating an illness. Many people use wellness based therapy to manage daily stress, learn new skills, and maintain their mental health. This type of maintenance support can be an ongoing process with check ins scheduled whenever you need them.

Therapy has many benefits, but it also has risks and unpleasant parts. It will not always feel good. Facing difficult emotions and going through the hard stuff is often necessary for real healing. Because this process takes energy, consistency is incredibly important. If you have too much going on in your life and cannot be consistent, starting deep therapy might actually be a risk. If your daily life is completely overwhelming, it might not be the right time to start. Sometimes the healthiest choice is to pause, pull your resources together, and wait for a more stable season.

My fees range from $30 for a half hour session to $90 for a 90 minute session. Most people start by meeting weekly and then move to sessions that are farther apart as they make progress. I do offer a sliding scale, so please do not let finances hold you back from reaching out. Even if private pay is not the right fit for your budget, I will provide referrals to practitioners who accept your insurance or offer lower rates during your first free session.

You always have the choice to wait and do nothing. Science shows that some mild struggles can improve on their own over time with good family or community support, but waiting can also allow certain problems to get worse. There are also many strong alternatives to talk therapy. Lifestyle changes like regular exercise, meditation, and joining peer support groups have solid scientific proof showing they reduce stress and improve mood. Medical options, like talking to your primary doctor about medication, are also safe and proven ways to manage symptoms. My goal is to always help you look at these options ethically so you can make the best, most informed choice for your own life.
